Accessing Services and Information Consultation

Pathways conducted this consultation for the East Bolton Regeneration Partnership, gathering the experiences of 800 people to identify what could to be done to help them more easily find the information and services they needed. In this work Pathways used story-based consultation techniques, which are highly effective at generating specific, qualitative information. This is exactly the kind of data that is missed by more standard approaches and resulted in a vivid understanding of the different strategies people use to find the support they need.

Christmas Community Facilities Consultation"The School needs painting and more windows and we need more things to do round here."

Christmas Community Facilities Consultation

This innovative consultation on two estates in Stockport took place over the festive period. Pathways was employed to investigate how to provide high quality, sustainable community buildings and consulted local people on their needs and priorities. The Pathways team toured local venues with a Consultation Christmas Tree and mince pies. People wrote their on baubles, hung them on the tree and collected sweets to take home. This engaging approach gathered information to form a comprehensive set of recommendations to improve community facilities.

"Stories have proved to be a hugely flexible tool, forming the base data for such diverse tasks as vision statements, word pictures, or formal reports in which the data is analysed to reveal key themes and generate policy
recommendations."
